Media Blasting

Media Blasting is a great way to remove old paint and rust from parts prior to our in-house powder coating. Media blasting not only removes rust and surface contaminants but also gives the metal a fine texture which allows the powder to better adhere to the metal for even more strength.
All of our media blasters work on roughly the same principles: finely ground steel grit media is used to clean and abrade a surface, typically metal, of any rust, paint, or other unwanted surface contaminations. This is done by means of an air-powered pressure gun that fires out the media at high velocity to impact the intended surface. Once completed your media-cleaned part is now free of contamination and ready for the finish application or restoration to begin.

A Green Technology
Powder coating is an environmentally friendly process. The powder is not a significant health, fire, or environmental hazard (in dry form it is called a “nuisance dust” because it makes a dusty mess if spilled). As a comparison, wet paint is flammable, carcinogenic, and full of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Because powder coat is applied in dry form electrostatically, transfer efficiencies over 90% can be achieved to minimize waste. In special cases, powder that doesn’t end up on the parts can even be reclaimed and reused. As a comparison, wet paint transfer efficiencies can easily drop below 50%, and overshoot goes right into the environment.

We use sustainable, green business practices and care deeply about protecting our future. You can be sure your next project will look great and have a minimal effect on the environment as well. Want to learn more about our shop and how we operate? Come visit our facility!

Automated line

Our automatic powder coat line is designed to accommodate large-volume production. The line is capable of running parts up to 2 ft. wide X 7 ft. 8 in. X 6 ft. 6 in. in size. It is designed as a looped conveyor system. Racked or hung parts move first into a wash system, followed by a dry-off oven, and then into a spray booth, where the powder is applied via 12 automatic spray heads (or manually) as the parts pass through. The line is capable of reclaiming powder for reuse. The parts continue through a gas convection cure oven. After completing the cycle, the parts are removed and packaged for shipment.

Our system is capable of powder coating at speeds up to 22 feet per minute which makes it suitable and cost-effective for almost any industrial use.

Our batch service allows us to powder coat items from an individual part to multiple parts. With two of the largest cure ovens in the Southwest, this system is ideal for large poles, bulky pieces, gates or just about any large part that can be powder coated.
IPC has two paint booths and batch ovens capable of coating parts which are up to:
10 ft. X 7 ft. 6 in. X 40 ft. long
10 ft. X 15 ft. X 30 ft. long
All metal or aluminum equipment can be powder-coated for excellent durability, and will easily outperform an ordinary painted finish in everyday use and long-term wear.
